Tyler Glasnow "Definitely" To Be Traded: Top 3 Pursuers Named

Scheduled to earn $25M next season, starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow likely doesn't fit into the Tampa Bay Rays' modest payroll any longer, and in fact baseball insiders are hearing that he'll "definitely" be on the move this winter.

After Tommy John surgery in 2021, Glasnow pitched in just two games in 2022, then was held back by a strained oblique in spring training of this year. He finally came back full-time in late May and posted a 10-7 record with a 3.53 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 162 strikeouts in 120 innings.

In his five and a half years with Tampa Bay, Glasnow is 27-16 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 12.2 K/9.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden has named these three teams as top interested parties for Glasnow:

Los Angeles Dodgers

A team whose rotation is a mess, with Tony Gonsolin out for 2024 after Tommy John surgery, Walker Buehler only finally coming back from that same operation, Dustin May out until midseason, and Julio Urias gone. The Dodgers have the prospects to trade, which makes this trade destination almost a slam dunk.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles made incredible improvements this past season, to jump into serious contention in the American League. A tremendous regular lineup with a cast of young stars ready to explode, the team still needs to improve its starting staff, as they showed in the playoffs. Glasnow would be the ace they truly need.

Atlanta Braves

Another team looking for an elite starter to join Spencer Strider and Max Fried, and Alex Anthopoulos is no stranger to pulling off a blockbuster trade.
