Bo Bichette Trade Rumors Surface; NL Contender Interested

The Toronto Blue Jays came into this offseason with some chatter surrounding the team about Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s future in Toronto... Alek Manoah too. But Bo Bichette?? For the first time, Bo's name has surfaced in trade rumors, with the Chicago Cubs being tied to the All-Star shortstop.

A Cubs podcaster says he's "hearing the Cubs have talked to the Blue Jays about Bo Bichette, who would play 3B for the Cubs."

One issue with this is that Bichette has made it pretty clear that he considers himself a shortstop, and any potential talk in Toronto in the past about him shifting to second base due to his throwing issues has been shut down immediately by Bichette. And of course, given his sometimes erratic arm, would a move to third make any sense at all?

The Cubs have shown interest in Bo in the past, as noted by Insider Jon Morosi, but they've already invested a huge chunk of change to have Dansby Swanson be their shortstop of the future—and his Gold Glove in 2023 ensures that he won't be moving off the keystone anytime soon.

Morosi also wonders how this potential move for the Jays and Cubs might impact how prized free agent Shohei Ohtani looks at each club, as both have been tied to the Japanese two-way star in talks.

Any way you look at these rumors, these are two teams that are poised to have a very interesting offseason.
