Pittsburgh Pirates Rumors: Infielder Becoming Trade Candidate

During the offseason, the Pittsburgh Pirates acquired Ji-Man Choi from the Tampa Bay Rays. However, his tenure as a Pirate could very well be short-lived, as he is already emerging as a trade candidate.

Choi has quickly become the odd man out in the Pirates' lineup. Carlos Santana has become the team's primary first baseman, while Andrew McCutchen is getting reps as the club's DH. With that, the team also has Connor Joe and Canaan Smith-Njgiba creeping ahead of him on their depth chart. As a result, a Choi trade could be on the way in the near future.

Choi has just 12 plate appearances in four games this season for the Pirates, where he has one hit.  It has been a slow start for him, and that will not do him any favors as he aims to become a regular in their lineup.

Teams looking for help at first base or DH should call the Pirates about Choi. It is clear that he can be had for the right price at this point in time.
