Philadelphia Phillies Place Outfielder On Waivers

The Philadelphia Phillies have made a move to address their overworked bullpen by designating outfielder Jhailyn Ortiz for assignment and adding McKinley Moore to their 40-man roster.

Ortiz, a 24-year-old prospect, has yet to make it to the majors but has shown promise in the lower minor leagues with his power.

The move to designate him for assignment may open up opportunities for him with other teams.

For his minor-league career, the 24-year-old holds a .233/.316/.426 triple-slash line, with 88 home runs, 284 RBIs, 30 stolen bases and 290 runs scored across 534 games played.
