San Francisco Giants Rumors: Free-Agent Catcher On Team's Radar

The San Francisco Giants are heading into the 2023 season with the expectation of getting back into the playoffs. As a result, it appears that they are open to adding to their roster before Opening Day is officially here. After missing out on Sean Murphy earlier this offseason, they are now reportedly looking at free-agent catcher Gary Sanchez as a consolation prize.

Although the regular season is less than a month away, Sanchez still does not have a home. Yet, it appears that the Giants could now be the club that helps change that.

The Giants could use a bit more catching depth, and this is especially so if Joey Bart does not seem ready for full-time duties. As a result, adding an experienced catcher like Sanchez to platoon with him does not seem like a bad idea at all on paper.

In 128 games this past season with the Minnesota Twins, the two-time All-Star had 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, and a .205 batting average.
