New York Mets Rumors: Nationals Reliever Becoming Target

After losing Edwin Diaz for the entirety of the 2023 season, the New York Mets are looking to add more relievers to their bullpen. As a result of this, they are reportedly interested in acquiring Washington Nationals pitcher Kyle Finnegan.

Although Finnegan is not a star like Diaz, he has shown that he can be a very reliable reliever at the major league level over these last few years. In 66 games last season with the Nationals, the 6-foot-2 righty put together a 6-4 record, 3.51 ERA, and recorded 11 saves. After a solid year like this, it makes sense that the Mets are interested in adding him to their bullpen.

With the Nationals in a full-on rebuild, they can do business with a division rival like the Mets without much risk. As a result, this could be an avenue worth exploring for both clubs. The Mets would improve their bullpen with Finnegan, while the Nationals would likely land a decent return for him in the process. Alas, let's see if these two clubs strike a deal centering around him from here.
