Fan Favorite Brett Phillips Signs With California Team

Headed to California.

The Los Angeles Angels have signed outfielder Brett Phillips to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

Once considered a promising prospect, Phillips has not been able to find success at the highest level.

This past season, split between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles, Phillips struggled to a triple slash line of .144/.217/.466, with five home runs, 15 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 22 runs scored over 83 games.

That's been the story of his major-league career, thus far, as Phillips holds a disappointing .188/.273/.348 triple slash line, with 28 home runs and 36 stolen bases over 355 career games.

What he lacks in offensive production, however, Phillips makes up for in his defense, speed, and, of course, his character which has made him a fan favorite of every organization he's played for.

He'll function as the fourth outfielder for the Angels.
