Oakland Athletics Sign Veteran Infielder

The Oakland Athletics have signed Aledmys Diaz to a two-year, $14 million contract.

This is the second multi-year contract that the rebuilding A's have made this week, as they also inked Jace Peterson to a two-year deal on Tuesday (Dec. 6). Oakland also brought in Chad Smith from the Colorado Rockies, so it is clear that they are open to making additions to their roster - albeit small ones.

Diaz spent the last four seasons with the Houston Astros and capped his time off there with a World Series ring. In 92 games on the year with the 'Stros, he had 12 home runs, 38 RBIs, and a .243 batting average. With Oakland, he stands a good chance of being a starter, so let's see how he performs with the A's from here.
