MLB Rumors: Swanson Could Reunite With Former Braves Teammate Out West

As the free agent shortstop musical chairs continues, with two participants remaining, one of them, Dansby Swanson might have a new deep-pocketed suitor bidding for his services.

MLB Insider Jon Heyman says that the Los Angeles Dodgers are now a possibility for Swanson. That would reunite him with his former teammate Freddie Freeman. The star first baseman was in a similar boat to Swanson one year ago, as a lifetime Brave who wanted to stay, but was forced to find another home when the Braves wouldn't match his contract demands.

The Braves have remained "quiet" on the Swanson front, as Heyman noted. We reported last week that they haven't even made a "legit" offer to Swanson since the season ended.

The Dodgers lost their own star shortstop in free agency already this winter, as Trea Turner headed back to the East Coast, joining the Philadelphia Phillies on a $300M deal. LA has some internal options to fill shortstop, like perhaps Gavin Lux, but after losing Corey Seager and Turner in consecutive years, they could be now considering bringing in another All-Star to fill the position.
