Baltimore Orioles Sign First Baseman

The Baltimore Orioles have signed Franchy Cordero to a one-year, split contract. At the major league level, he will make $1.35 million. In the minors, he will receive $450,000.

Cordero spent this past season with the Boston Red Sox, where he set new career highs with eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 84 games. Yet, he had trouble hitting for contact, which is .219 batting average shows. In 2023 as an Oriole, he will be hoping to change that.

Cordero will provide the Orioles with a decent depth player. He offers versatility, as he can play outfield and first base, so it will be intriguing to see if this is enough for him to make Baltimore's major league roster from here.
