Cincinnati Reds Sign Pitcher

The Cincinnati Reds have signed Kevin Herget to a minor league contract.

Herget appeared in his first three MLB games this season with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he had a 0-1 record to go along with a 7.71 ERA. Overall, he did struggle a bit when called upon, but he will be hoping to have the chance to change that as a member of the Reds from here.

Ultimately, there is no harm in the Reds signing Herget to this deal. At a minimum, they have added to their pitching depth and can utilize him in the minors. However, if he impresses during Spring Training, we should not be surprised to see his contract selected. Either way, not a bad move by the rebuilding Reds.
