Two Tampa Bay Rays Players Elect Free Agency

Two new players are joining free agency.

The Tampa Bay Rays have sent pitcher Jimmy Yacabonis outright to Triple-A Durham.

Yacabonis is an interesting pitcher, racking up a 32% strikeout rate at the Triple-A level and a 29% strikeout rate over 14 innings in the majors.

The downside is he also posted an 8.36 ERA and 2.14 WHIP over 14 innings last season in the majors.

Outfielder Roman Quinn has also elected free agency.

Quinn split time between the Philadelphia Phillies and Rays last season, slashing .215/.287/.304, with seven RBIs, four stolen bases and 15 runs scored over 44 games.

The twenty-nine-year-old's speed makes him an attractive player, but he can't hit and, given how injury prone he is, there likely won't be a ton of interest in him this offseason.
