Yankees Outright Pitcher

He was designated for assignment last weekend. 

Now, Jacob Barnes has passed through waivers unclaimed and has been sent outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the New York Yankees. 
The thirty-two-year-old right-handed pitcher will remain with the Yankees as emergency organizational relief depth. 

Barnes has made 23 appearances this season split between the Detroit Tigers and Yankees. In those 23 relief appearances, Barnes has posted a 5.64 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts over 22 innings of work. 

In the minors this season, Barnes registered a strong 2.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts across 18 innings. In 19 relief appearances, he held a 1-1 record.
