Yankees Designate Pitcher for Assignment

He turned in a nice performance on Sunday. 

Now, the New York Yankees have designated pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez for assignment. 
Gonzalez turned in a nice outing on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles, going 4.2 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, three walks and three strikeouts. 

The thirty-year-old has recorded a 5.87 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 23 innings this season between the Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers and Yankees. He has seven appearances and five starts on the season.

Over his six-year career, Gonzalez has played with the Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, Yankees, Twins and Brewers, posting a 5.66 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 170 strikeouts across 284 innings. 

He'll likely clear waivers and remain with the Yankees organization as extra pitching depth.
