Pirates Designate Catcher for Assignment

He only made eight appearances with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season.

The Pirates have designated catcher Jose Godoy for assignment.
The Pirates claimed catcher Ali Sanchez off waivers from the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday and there was only room for so many backstops on the 40-man roster.

It's most likely that Godoy will pass through waivers without being claimed and, if so, he will continue to serve as organizational catching depth for the Pirates.

The twenty-eight-year-old has played for the Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, and the Pirates over his two-year career, slashing .123/.194/.140, with four RBIs and five runs scored across 26 games.
