Red Sox Call Up Pitcher and Catcher

The Boston Red Sox have selected the contract of pitcher Eduard Bazardo from Triple-A Worcester.

In addition, the Red Sox have also called up catcher Connor Wong as the other September 1st callup.
Bazardo has only appeared in three major league innings in his career, allowing no runs and striking out three. The twenty-seven-year-old has pitched to a middling 3.45 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 57 innings this year in the minors. In 37 games, he's started four and converted four saves. He holds a 2-4 record.

Bazardo was also recalled on his birthday, the best gift a baseball player could ever ask for, so happy birthday and congrats to him!

The Red Sox have also recalled catcher Connor Wong from Triple-A Worcester.

Wong has gone 2-for-8 this year in the majors, and 6-for-11 in his career in the majors. In the minors this season, the twenty-six year old has slashed an impressive .288/.349/.489, with 15 home runs, 44 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 47 runs scored across 323 at-bats.

He'll likely get some starts at catcher and elsewhere down the stretch.
