Rays Outright Pitcher

He was designated for assignment on Thursday.

Now, Kevin Herget has cleared waivers and been sent outright to Triple-A Durham by the Tampa Bay Rays. 

He will continue to serve as extra bullpen depth for the Rays at the Triple-A level. 

The thirty-one-year-old rookie had posted a 6.75 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and one strikeout over 2.2 innings pitched in the majors this season. 

In the minors this season he's been very good, registering a strong 2.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 96 strikeouts across 93.2 innings. In 20 appearances, he's made 16 starts and has an 8-1 record. 

Herget is a former 39th-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 MLB Draft.
