Pittsburgh Pirates Designate Infielder For Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Josh VanMeter for assignment. As a result of this, he will no longer be on their 40-man roster.

VanMeter will now be placed on waivers in response to this development. Teams looking for a bit of depth could consider claiming VanMeter, as he can play second base and the outfield. As a result, he could be a decent utility option for a team dealing with some injury trouble.

VanMeter has had a year to forget in 2022, however. In 67 games, he has three home runs, 14 RBIs, and a very low .187 batting average. If he is claimed by another club, he will be aiming to end the year on a high note.

Time will tell what happens with VanMeter from here.
