Chicago Cubs Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The Chicago Cubs have removed another pitcher from their 40-man roster, as Nicholas Padilla has been designated for assignment.
This news comes after the Cubs just designated Luke Farrell for assignment. Now, the Cubs will be placing another one of their pitchers on waivers with Padilla, and it will be intriguing to see if another club elects to claim him from here.
The sample size is certainly small for Padilla, so it's hard to predict whether or not he will get attention while on the waiver wire. He made his MLB debut this season, and it is his lone appearance to date. During it, he allowed one earned run in 1.2 innings pitched, which equates to a 5.40 ERA.
Alas, if a team is looking for pitching depth, perhaps we will see the 25-year-old get claimed from here.
