Padres Recall Two Players

The San Diego Padres have made their September 1st callups.

The team has recalled pitcher Reiss Knehr and infielder Matt Beaty from Triple-A El-Paso.

Knehr has been up and down with the Padres all season, but has been good in his limited time with the big league club, posting a strong 1.50 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and eight strikeouts.

The twenty-five-year-old has been atrocious at the minor league level, however, throwing an absymal 6.95 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 83 strikeouts across 77 innings. There is some versatility here, as Knehr has started 12 of the 28 games he's appeared in and converted one save.

The Padres have also recalled outfielder Matt Beaty from Triple-A El-Paso.

Beaty has played 17 games with the Padres this season, and has been awful. Just a .108 batting average and .175 on-base percentage with four hits in 40 plate appearances.

The twenty-nine-year-old has not been as bad in the minors this season, but he still hasn't been great, posting just a .254 batting average with two home runs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored over 134 at-bats.
