Blue Jays Recall Starter; Activate Outfielder

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled pitcher Casey Lawrence from Triple-A Buffalo.

The team has also activated outfielder Bradley Zimmer.

Lawrence has not been good at all in his time with the Jays this season, posting a 8.04 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and nine strikeouts over 15 innings. However, in the minors this season, the thirty-four-year-old has been great. In 20 games, all starts, Lawrence has posted a 2.76 ERA, a stellar 0.91 WHIP and 92 strikeouts over 111 innings. He holds a 9-4 record.

He'll likely be used as a low-leverage arm out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays down the stretch, but the team would be thrilled if he can replicate the success he's had in the minors this season in the majors.

Zimmer can do virtually nothing productive at the plate, but is a nice source of speed and defense in the late innings off the bench for the Jays.
