"Smacking Balls With a Gazillion MPH Exit Velocity and Running Like His Hair's on Fire"; Marlins Call Up Top-10 Prospect

With a 48-57 record, the Miami Marlins are not really contending this year. So, why not call up some top prospects and see what they have in them?

That's exactly what they're doing with their 10th-ranked prospect Peyton Burdick.

According to Craig Mish, the Marlins are calling up Burdick ahead of their series opener against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The idea is for him to play every day so Miami can get a sense of where they stand in the outfield in 2023.

Burdick will make his debut at Wrigley Field, where he grew up five hours away from.

The twenty-five-year-old has six home runs in his last 20 games. His strikeout percentage is down to 25.7%, lower than 2021, and his walk rate is 13%.

In 88 games played this year, Burdick has smacked 14 home runs, 51 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.
