New York Yankees Pitcher Clears Waivers

After being designated for assignment by the New York Yankees, Carlos Espinal has cleared waivers and will be heading to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from here.

Espinal's removal from the 40-man roster is likely due to the Yankees making several changes to their team at the deadline. Unfortunately for him, he will need to impress in Triple-A from here if he wants to get placed back on it before the year is out.

Espinal has split this season between Double-A and Triple-A. Overall, he has looked pretty solid for the most part, as he sports a 2-1 record and 2.66 ERA in 29 appearances between the two leagues. It will be intriguing to see what happens with Espinal from here, but at a minimum, he will remain in the Yankees' system.
