MLB Rumors: Exec Calls One Yankee "Untradeable"

Jon Heyman of the New York Post is reporting that the San Diego Padres will be looking for another bat before the trade deadline, likely an outfielder. He notes that in the past they’ve had interest in Joey Gallo, now of the New York Yankees. Is the interest still there? That’s highly doubtful, given the year that Gallo is having.

In fact, Heyman quotes one exec as calling Gallo “untradeable.”

Gallo is batting .173, with 81 strikeouts in 60 games. Last year, he led the world in whiffing, with a massive 213 Ks. He batted .199. But at least he still had an .808 OPS, providing power, with 38 HR and 77 RBIs. This season, he's stuck on 9 homers and 18 RBIs, with a .641 OPS.

Aside from being no-hit on Saturday, just about everything has gone right for the Yankees this season. Unless you're Joey Gallo.
