Braves Recall Infielder

The Braves have recalled infielder Mike Ford from Triple-A Gwinnet, and optioned pitcher Jesus Cruz in a corresponding move. This comes as a result of teams having to cut back to a maximum of 13 pitchers on active rosters.

Atlanta claimed Ford off waivers from Mariners earlier this month, and have had him playing in Triple-A ever since. In 19 games there this season, Ford is hitting .220 with two homeruns.

The twenty-nine year old has shifted around a fair bit this season, going from San Francisco, to Seattle, and now Atlanta. In the majors this season Ford has appeared in 17 games, hitting just .182/.357/.212 with zero homeruns and five RBI's.

Jesus Cruz was enjoying the six games he appeared in for the Braves, posting a solid ERA of 1.50, a 1.00 WHIP with five strikeouts in six innings.

The Braves have been one of the hottest teams in baseball as of late, and are now 38-29, sitting in the third wild-card spot in the National League with a half-game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals
