Astros' Top Pitching Prospect Finally Healthy

Forrest Whitley is finally pitching again.

The twenty-four year starter old underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in March 2021. Selected 17th overall by the Astros in 2016, Whitley has yet to pitch in the majors due to injuries and suspensions.

Whitley allowed one hit and struck out two across two scoreless innings in a rehab appearance for Single-A Fayetteville on Wednesday.

It was Whitley's second rehab appearance as he continues to progress from Tommy John surgery. He threw an impressive 21 of his 29 pitches for strikes in the appearance.

Whitley will probably need a couple more rehab appearances before being moved up to Triple-A Sugar Land, where he will pitch in the rotation.

If all goes well, there's a chance we see the talented pitcher in Houston before the end of the regular season.
