White Sox Slugger Carted Off Field After Collapsing With Injury

After an all-out hustle down the first base line to try to beat out a grounder, Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez seemed to take one last awkward step as he hit the base, and collapsed to the field in pain.

Jimenez lay on the field in pain for several minutes, and had to be taken from the field on a cart.

For now, the White Sox are calling it "hamstring soreness", until further examination.

Earlier in the week, Jimenez was suffering from inflammation in his ankle, and even had to sit out a game. One has to wonder if he was favoring the ankle while charging down the line, possibly leading to extra stress on a hamstring.

The ChiSox have been hit hard by the injury bug thus far this season, losing newly-acquired outfielder AJ Pollock after just 2 games, after watching their top two starting pitchers, Lance Lynn and Lucas Giolito, go on the IL as well. Pollock just returned Friday night, while Giolito is scheduled to start on Sunday.

Jimenez is off to a slow start this season, hitting .229 with a .606 OPS and just one home run.
