Rays And Padres Complete Trade

The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired Javy Guerra from the San Diego Padres in exchange for cash considerations.

Guerra has made appearances in each of the last four seasons with the Padres but has had trouble cementing himself a permanent spot in their bullpen. In 27 games over that span, he sported a 1-0 record and 8.46 ERA. In his lone appearance this season, he allowed four earned runs in two innings pitched, so he will be looking to rebound for the rest of the season with Tampa.

The Rays have had a lot of success finding diamonds in the rough, so perhaps they will have another one in Guerra. At worst, he will provide them with more pitching depth, and that of course is a necessity. It will be intriguing to see if this change of scenery is beneficial to him.
