MLB Rumors: New York Mets Expected to Trade 3 Players

The New York Mets are working hard trying to change the culture of their baseball team and infuse their group with some new talent. The team signed Max Scherzer before the latest work stoppage and with talks of a new CBA on the horizon, look for 'New York's other team' to get right back to business. The Mets are fielding trade calls and are expected to be open to moving three players.

According to SNY's Andy Martino the Mets are listening to trade offers on J.D Davis, Jeff McNeil and Dominic Smith. With a flurry of activities already completed this offseason the team brought in Starling Marte, Mark Canha and Eduardo Escobar to bolster their lineup and now turn their attention to moving out some stale pieces.

As for Davis, he's been banged up in the past and underwent surgery back in Oct. to repair a torn ligament in his left hand. He managed to appear in 73 games last season and his .285 with five HR. He's likely to come in around $3 million-salary in 2022 via arbitration.

McNeil is a player who isn't likely to draw a ton of interest on the trade market as he got into it with teammates on numerous occasions last season and is someone who some executives around the league have already cross off their list. He had an up-and-down season at the plate as well as the 29-year-old slashed .251/.319/.360 with seven HR in 120 games.

Smith on the other hand is 26 and is player coming off a career-high 145 games played. He smacked 11HR and slashed .244/.304/.363 and can provide some defense at either first base or the corner outfield. The Mets will listen to offers on all three players and are expected to add some new talent via trade and don't appear set to break the bank on any more free agents.
