Former All-Star Outfielder Leaving MLB

One of the most electric players to ever play in the MLB is leaving. Yasiel Puig is taking his Wild Horse and heading to Korea.

The former All-Star outfielder who burst onto the scene in the majors has agreed to sign a one-year contract worth $1 million with the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization. The team made the signing official on Wednesday.

Some great news for Puig, which does make some sense given his talent, he will earn the maximum salary allowed for first-year foreign players in the KBO. While he certainly came out of nowhere onto the scene of the majors, Puig hasn't played in the MLB since 2019. That year he split time with the Cleveland organization and Cincinnati Reds. He tried to make a comeback last season but after signing with the Atlanta Braves, tested positive for COVID-19 and everything fell apart.

Puig is 31 years old, and hasn't heard from a big-league club ever since the Braves left him at the alter. He played some baseball last season in Mexico, slashing .312/.409/.517 with 10 HR, 43 RBI, eight SB in the 62 games he appeared in.

The Heroes finished fifth in the 10-team league last season and play their games out of Seoul. Puig will do whatever he can to get them a championship. We wish him nothing but the best.
