Seattle Mariners Expected to Go All-In for Marcus Semien

The Seattle Mariners are looking to build off their 90-win season and have themselves a successful offseason. Apparently this means adding to their lineup with a middle of the order bat as reports from Jon Morosi of MLB Network indicate the Mariners have interest in free agent Marcus Semien.

It's going to take a massive multi-year offer to land Semien who is one of the biggest names on the market. All he did in his first season in Toronto was put up historic numbers and win a gold glove. It's likely his deal reaches the ball park of $130 million. The Blue Jays have some big extensions to sign for some of their young talent, so everyone is curious to see how much money they end up dishing out this winter.

As for the Mariners, they want Semien to play second base, when the free agent has made mention he would prefer to play shortstop. As a second baseman Semien hit 45 HR last season and did not look out of sorts on the other side of the infielder.

Word is Semien wants to play closer to California and return to the West Coast. Leaving Toronto likely on the outside looking in considering Bo Bichette isn't going anywhere from his shortstop position and the team couldn't be further north.

Expect to see the Mariners spending a boat load of money this offseason and it could all start with one of the biggest fish.
