San Francisco Giants To Sign Veteran Starter

The San Francisco Giants are on the verge of signing veteran starter Alex Cobb, according to Jon Heyman.

Cobb just had a very solid season with the Los Angeles Angels. In 18 games, he sported an 8-3 record, 3.76 ERA and had 98 strikeouts. One could argue that it was a bounce back campaign from the 34-year-old, too, as he dealt with inconsistency and a lot of injury trouble during his tenure with the Baltimore Orioles. Yet, in the end, it's clear that the Angels taking a gamble on him worked out for them.

Although Cobb isn't necessarily the huge splash that Giant fans want, he certainly would be a very nice addition for the bottom half of their rotation if he can replicate his stats from the 2021 season moving forward.

In 174 career games between the Tampa Bay Rays, Orioles and Angels, Cobb has a 63-60 record, 3.87 ERA and 816 strikeouts. It will be interesting to see how he does as a member of the Giants from here.
