New York Yankees Interested in 2 Shortstops

When the New York Yankees add a shortstop this winter, expect them to be elite. General manager Brian Cashman recently commented on their pursuit for help up the middle and it's become very clear, only the best of talent will do.

New York has some money to burn this offseason after a season that saw them actually fall under the luxury tax threshold. Cashman recently admitted there's a number of players out there but confirmed the team has been in contact with two free agents.

Carlos Correa: The Houston Astros shortstop is going to make hundreds of millions this offseason and it could certainly be from a deal with the Yanks. The Jeter comparisons with then start, however if there's one player that has the confidence to handle the pressure, it's CC. Correa has received an offer from Houston for roughly $160 million, but that was just a starting point and was quickly denied. Expect to see more than $300 million dished out for the talented shortstop and it could very well be coming from Cashman in the Big Apple.

Corey Seager: There's no doubt he's plan B in New York, but that's ok, he's still one of the best in the business. Seager is only 27 years old and is coming off a season where he hit .306 including 16 HR and 57 RBI in 95 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Back in 2019 he led the MLB with 44 doubles and has shown he has pop to be a 25-plus home run hitter. Seager has won almost everything under the sun including NLCS and World Series MVP. While Correa may end up in New York, some argue Seager is the better fit.
