3 Pitchers Likely to be Traded

The MLB free agency period is underway and while a lot of the attention is on who signs where, there's going to be a number of trades completed this offseason. Of those, expect to see the majority including pitchers and there's a few teams who are currently engaged in trade talks surrounding some interesting names.

Pitchers Expected to be on the Move

Luis Castillo: We brought you the news a couple of days ago how the Cincinnati Reds were open to moving their 28-year-old hurler. 2021 was a bad year for the former all-star as he finished the season with a 8-16 record and a 3.98 ERA. Regardless his strong second half of the season and his age have certainly bolstered him up some trade boards. Expect Castillo to move and for the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox to be interested.

Dallas Keuchel: The veteran southpaw will be 34 years old when next season begins and carries a resume that easily speaks for itself. Keuchel is eligible for free agency in 2023 and is coming off a season where he posted a 9-9 record with a 5.28 ERA with the Chicago White Sox. Certainly not his best season but with a career record of 99-82 with a 3.77 ERA, his agent Scott Boras will be sure to focus on his pedigree when engaging clubs to pursue his client.

Sonny Gray: The rebuild is real in Cincy and Gray is expected to be dealt along with Castillo. He just turned 32 and in 2021 was 7-9 with a 4.19 ERA. Gray has spent the past three seasons in Cincinatti after a quick stop in New York with the Yankees and of course starting his career as a member of the Oakland A's. Gray's posted a winning record three of the past four seasons and still has lots left in the tank. Expect to see a number of teams including the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays involved in trade talks.
