3 Potential Landing Spots For All-Star Chris Bassitt

The Oakland Athletics area ready to be sellers yet again, as they are aiming to save money. One player who is officially available is All-Star pitcher Chris Bassitt. He just had an outstanding campaign, where he went 12-4 and had a 3.15 ERA. This was after a dominant 2020 season where he had a 5-2 record and 2.29 ERA.

There will be plenty of teams in on the Bassitt sweepstakes, but these three seem like true locks.

San Francisco Giants: The San Francisco Giants are looking to strengthen their starting rotation and Bassitt could be an excellent choice for them. He immediately would make them look a lot better on paper, which is scary when remembering that they just won 107 games this season. It would give them a much-needed All-Star as well.

Los Angeles Dodgers: If the Giants go after Bassitt, why shouldn't the Dodgers? They are also in a position where adding another star pitcher would be helpful. Keep in mind, Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw are two big pitchers with expired contracts. If they end up losing one of them officially, trading for a guy like Bassitt would seem very appealing to them.

Los Angeles Angels: Although trading to a division rival comes with risk. it isn't that high when remembering that the Athletics are having a fire sale. As a result of this, it would not be too surprising to see the Angels pursue Bassitt, too. They desperately need stronger pitching to finally make the postseason again. Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are among the best players in baseball, so they need to build a better team around them. Bassitt is an excellent start for that.
