'Field of Dreams' To Be Turned Into TV Series

With the massive success and drama of the inaugural MLB 'Field of Dreams' Game, NBC's Peacock TV has announced that it will be bringing the concept to our homes on a regular basis — creating a television series based on the movie.

The television series, according to Peacock, "will reimagine the mixture of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the movie so enduring and beloved".

The series will be written and executive produced by Mike Schur, who is also the creator of NBC's "The Good Life" and "Parks and Recreation." Schur's "talent, his love for baseball and his reverence for its themes make him the perfect choice to revisit this beloved film that evokes nostalgia and visceral emotion in so many of its fans," said Erin Underhill, President, Universal Television.

Last week's MLB Field of Dreams game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox,was so captivating that MLB has already announced its return in 2022, and the teams that will play in next year's edition.

At 5.9 million viewers, it drew the largest regular-season baseball TV audience in 16 years. Those are numbers that any TV executive can get behind.
