Rumor: Atlanta Braves Trading for a Catcher

The trade deadline isn't for another month or so but that doesn't mean there aren't trade discussions that are currently ongoing. One team to watch out for is the Atlanta Braves, who are reportedly interested in acquiring a catcher.

There's one problem and that's the fact catchers don't get traded in-season very often as normally it's an offseason move so they have spring training to learn all the pitching staff and their tendencies. It's hard for a catcher to jump in mid-season and figure everyone out on the fly.

If the Braves end up pulling the trigger on a deal, there's a few names that are available including Jacob Stallings, Tom Murphy and Stephen Vogt. Atlanta has dealt with several injuries including Travis d'Arnaud and Alex Jackson, meanwhile William Contreras has filled-in in the meantime and done a decent job.

The Braves currently sit 6.5 games back in the NL East and are certainly within striking distance given it's only the middle of June. Braves management has shown they aren't shy to make moves or hand out money so if you're a Braves fan, get ready for a couple of moves, and one is likely going to bring in some catcher depth.
