3 LA Dodgers Who Won't Be Back With Former Champs
In a stunning four-game sweep, the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers are heading home, wondering why they couldn't complete the "three-peat."
Since championships are the only thing that this franchise is built for, there will undoubtedly be changes as they look to try to regain their crown in 2027.
Let's have a look at three Dodgers who will not return next season (if there is one):
Miguel Rojas
This one we know about, as the 37-year-old veteran infielder and clubhouse leader confirmed his retirement from Major League Baseball after 13 seasons following the team's postseason exit. Rojas will be remembered for hitting the 9th-inning Game 7 home run that salvaged their World Series chances in 2025 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Blake Treinen
The Dodgers need to get younger, and letting the 38-year-old go off into the sunset (or free agency) is a likely scenario. He only managed to pitch 29.2 innings this season due to injuries, and he was unavailable in the postseason. The injuries have started to mount as Father Time has caught up to the former closer, and he only pitched 26 innings the previous season as well. He likely won't be back.
Eric Lauer
The left-hander was picked up by the Dodgers after he was dumped by 2025 World Series rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays, with a 6.69 ERA at the time. The reclamation project worked well for a while, as he threw a number of quality starts for LA. Things caught up to him as he got rocked several times in August and at the beginning of September, before going on the IL.
There are many other honorable mentions, including Brusdar Graterol and Kris Bubic, and potentially even Teoscar Hernandez, but the one name we can't put on this list for now, is free agent Tarik Skubal. The Dodgers are the frontrunners to keep him.
