It was only a few moments earlier that Thomas was pulled from the Royals' game mid-inning, as the deal was completed.

The Braves have been linked to Thomas since at least last year, and finally bring him on board. The 30-year-old's best season came in 2023 with the Washington Nationals when he launched 28 homers with 86 RBIs. He hasn't quite been able to duplicate those numbers since, but does have 10 homers in 283 at-bats this season in KC.
Falter posted a 3.73 ERA in 22 starts for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, but has been injured this year and hasn't pitched since May. He has looked good on a minor league rehab stint recovering from elbow inflammation. The southpaw has allowed just three earned runs in his last 14 innings pitched.
Mark Feinsand of mlb.com reports that the Braves are sending RHP Lucas Braun (ATL’s No. 8 prospect per @MLBPipeline) and LHP Carter Holton to the Royals in exchange for Thomas and Falter.
