Rangers Cut Ties With Veteran Infielder
The Signing That Didn't Pan Out
Bride signed a minor league contract with Texas in November, a deal that included an invitation to major league spring training camp.
The connection made some sense at the time.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker managed Bride with the Miami Marlins in 2024, the best season of the infielder's career, when he slashed .276/.357/.461 with career highs in games, home runs, and RBI while posting the second-highest OPS on the club at .818.

Texas also had opportunities on the infield after trading Marcus Semien to the New York Mets, and both Schumaker and Bride were hoping to find that 2024 magic again.
It never materialized.
Bride was reassigned to minor league camp before Opening Day after slashing an underwhelming .226/.368/.290 across 38 spring plate appearances and spent the season at Triple-A Round Rock.
The Career
Bride, 30, was originally selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 23rd round of the 2018 draft out of South Carolina and made his MLB debut in June 2022.
He has appeared in 214 major league games across four seasons with Oakland, Miami, and Minnesota, carrying a career .221 batting average with 12 home runs and 57 RBI.
His 2025 was a struggle, as he posted a .435 OPS across 125 plate appearances between the Marlins and Twins, though he did slash .281/.423/.453 in 43 Triple-A games.
He even made two relief appearances on the mound for Minnesota last season, telling reporters at the time it was simply "whatever it takes."
Bride is now a free agent and will look for another organization willing to give him a shot as infield depth.
