The Mets obviously have some offers in on the beleaguered starter, and will not be taking any chances of an injury.
Peralta will be a free agent after the season, but has done himself no favors recently, as he has had a dreadful couple of months. However, his track record the past several years speaks for itself, and teams around the league must be confident that a change of scenery will bring back the Fastball Freddy who was a top starter for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2021 through 2025.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Chicago Cubs are one of the teams showing interest in Peralta. It makes plenty of sense as Cubs manager Craig Counsell was in the Brewers' dugout for several of those top years for the pitcher in Milwaukee.
"He is one of several options the Cubs are targeting, according to people briefed on the club’s planning," reports Rosenthal.
But the asking price is steep for a distressed asset who is only a rental. The Mets are asking teams for a top-100 prospect and more, says the insider.
Rosenthal also names the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, along with the Cubs, as being among the clubs that have shown "strong interest" in Peralta.
The pitcher has a 4.99 ERA this season with the Mets, and a 5.89 ERA over his last four starts.
In eight years in Milwaukee, he had a 3.79 ERA with a 70-42 record along with 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
