MLB Trade Rumors: Proposed Deal Would Send Freddy Peralta Back To The Brewers
Freddy Peralta is one of the most prime trade candidates out there this summer. He will not be extending with the Mets before the year is out, and is set to hit free agency in the offseason. And with New York continuing to flounder near the bottom of the NL, they would be foolish not to sell on one of the top starters that will be on the market.
And what team knows better than the Milwaukee Brewers what Fastball Freddy can bring to the top of a rotation?
With free agency pending this year, the Brew Crew decided to cash in and bring in some assets on Peralta this past offseason, but with another playoff run now looking like a near certainty, wouldn't he look good back in their rotation?
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report has proposed a deal that would send Peralta back to Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Brewers receive:
- Freddy Peralta
- OF Luis Lara (#5 Brewers Prospect)
- RHP Craig Yoho
Imagine a starting staff of Jacob Misiorowski, Kyle Harrison, Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff and Logan Henderson. The biggest challenge at that point would be how the Brewers would trim that to a 3-man rotation for the playoffs. Whichever way they go, there would be no rival team looking forward to facing that crew in a short playoff series.
For the Mets, they get a couple of nice prospects. Lara is a speed merchant who is also a highlight machine in the outfield. The 5'7" dynamo swiped 44 bags last season in Double-A and won a Minor League Gold Glove Award. This year, he already has 20 steals and has beefed up the power, with seven homers and a .900 OPS.
Yoho is a 26-year-old right-hander with a "bonkers" change-up, per MLB Pipeline. He has a 0.90 ERA with a 0.70 WHIP in 20 innings at Triple-A this season, with a ridiculous 28:5 strikeout to walk ratio. He had equally nutty numbers at AAA last year and has clearly conquered the minor leagues, ready for a shot at the bigs.
