MLB Trade Rumors: Jarren Duran Linked To Exciting, Upstart NL Team
Jarren Duran has had a roller coaster of a season this year with the Boston Red Sox. Wtih a dreadful .174 average and .528 OPS through the first six or so weeks, it seemed like a complete lost season for him.
But then a three-week run that included a 10-game hitting streak and 15 RBIs in 14 games had Duran back as a premier leadoff man with the BoSox, and as a primo trade candidate once again.
He's cooled off over the past week, but has still reignited some interest on the market.
Christopher Kline of Fansided has proposed that the Cincinnati Reds would be an "dream destination" for him.
"Jarren Duran reinforces an upstart Reds lineup, adding another thrilling speed and power element behind (Elly) De La Cruz."
The Reds have slumped lately, but have plenty of young talent to go along with De La Cruz, including Sal Stewart and JJ Bleday, along with veteran Nate Lowe. But they use one more legit performer, and if Duran can return to being that, the Cinci lineup would be scary.
A rough start to June has left them 3.0 games back of a Wild Card spot. But with the promise of their young pitching staff, if they can rally around the sensational season of Chase Burns, an extra boost to lengthen their lineup could help them get back into the mix in short order.
As for the Red Sox, they are third from the bottom in the AL, and they will be sellers. Duran is still under team control for two more seasons, so they could get a decent package in return for him.
