MLB Rumors: Tigers Linked to 2 Pitchers After Tarik Skubal Injury
The Detroit Tigers were hit with some bad injury news earlier this week. They will be without their ace, as Tarik Skubal is having surgery on his elbow and will be forced to miss time because of it.
With the Tigers now going to be without Skubal for the time being, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they look to add to their pitching rotation. The Tigers are currently first in the American League Central, but the last-place Minnesota Twins are just 1.5 games back from them. Thus, this division is incredibly packed, and the Tigers should be looking to boost their roster because of it.
In a recent article for MLB.com, Mark Feinsand named Sonny Gray and Freddy Peralta as two potential trade targets for the Tigers.
With the Red Sox struggling this season, Gray is a pitcher to keep an eye on between now and the deadline. The 36-year-old would have the potential to be a solid pickup for the Tigers' rotation if acquired. The three-time All-Star has appeared in five games this season for Boston, where he has a 2-1 record and a 4.30 ERA.
As for Peralta, with the New York Mets performing far below expectations, his time in New York very well could end up being short. The star pitcher has a 1-3 record and a 3.52 ERA in seven games so far this season with the Mets. This is after he had a 17-6 record and a 2.70 ERA in 33 games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025.
