MLB Trade: Pirates, A's Pull Off Trade for Recent First-Rounder
The Sacramento Athletics, looking for a little added depth for their middle infield, have swung a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, acquiring Alika Williams in return for a minor league pitching prospect.
A's acquire minor league infielder Alika Williams from Pirates for minor league right-handed pitcher Kyle Robinson. Williams was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas today and infielder Michael Stefanic was designated for assignment to clear space on 26- and 40-man roster.

Williams was a 2020 first-round pick in the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was hitting .317 with an .852 OPS at Indianapolis in AAA this year.
He had 101 at-bats with the Pirates in 2023, but slashed only .198/.270/.248. He fared about the same in 96 at-bats the next season.
The 27-year-old has been called up and will join the A’s immediately. To clear space on the roster, Michael Stefanic was designated for assignment.
Right-handed pitching prospect Kyle Robinson goes to the Pirates. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound hurler was an 11th-round pick two years ago, and has spent this season with High-A Lansing. The 22-year-old has made five starts in six appearances, and has a 3.62 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP in 27 innings.
