MLB Rumors: Marlins Ace Sandy Alcantara Linked to AL West Team

Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara is one of baseball's top trade candidates during the early stages of this season. Alcantara has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, and it seems inevitable that he will be moved by the Marlins at some point.

With teams always on the hunt for pitching help, Alcantara should generate a lot of interest around the league between now and the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline. Due to this, the former Cy Young Award winner is now being linked to a team in the American League West.

In a recent article for FanSided, Chris Landers named the Athletics as the top potential landing spot for Alcantara as we continue to get closer to this season's deadline.

"The A's haven't come up in any of the myriad Alcantara rumors over the last year or two, but maybe it's time for that to change. They currently set atop the eminently winnable AL West, and you can make the argument that this team is one legit arm away from being a real contender in a league in which there's no slam-dunk favorite right now," Landers wrote.

The idea of the Athletics landing Alcantara is a fascinating one. The Athletics are not necessarily known for making bold trades at this point in time, but bringing in a star pitcher like Alcantara would help change things on that front.

If the Athletics landed Alcantara, he would give their rotation a major boost and immediately become their new ace. This would be big for an Athletics club that is looking to prove that they can be a playoff team this year. With this, the Athletics could be a team to watch when it comes to Alcantara this season.
