MLB Rumors: Dodgers & Cardinals Linked to Potential Trade
After winning back-to-back World Series championships, the Los Angeles Dodgers are continuing to thrive during the early stages of this season. At the time of this writing, the Dodgers are at the top of the National League West with a 12-4 record.
With how the Dodgers are performing, there is no question that they will be buyers yet again this season. One area that they could look to improve ahead of the deadline is their outfield depth, and they are now being linked to one of baseball's top trade candidates because of it.
In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Patrick McAvoy named the Dodgers as a potential landing spot for St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar.
With the Cardinals in the middle of a rebuild, Nootbaar's name has come up often in the rumor mill already this season. It is understandable, as he has the potential to get the Cardinals a solid return in a potential move. With the Dodgers being in win-now mode, it would make sense if they brought in an outfielder like Nootbaar who provides a bit of everything.
Nootbaar played in 135 games this past season with the Cardinals, where he had 13 home runs, 24 doubles, 48 RBIs, and a .234 batting average. With numbers like these, he would be a nice pickup for the Dodgers, and it will be interesting to see if they swing a deal for him from here.
