MLB Rumors: Atlanta Braves Linked to Trade for Twins All-Star SP
The Atlanta Braves are dealing with injury trouble early on this season, but they are still off to a solid start. The Braves currently sport a 6-4 record and are second in the National League East.
Yet, with the Braves having major injury trouble with their pitching early on this season, there is no question that they should be aiming to add to their rotation. They could use another star in the front half of their rotation, and they are now being linked to one of the top trade candidates in baseball because of it.
In a recent article for FanSided, Austin Owens predicted that the Braves would swing a deal with the Minnesota Twins for All-Star starting pitcher Joe Ryan this season.
"Ryan would be a great fit as a Game 2 or 3 starter for Braves rotation, and the Twins will be listening to offers as their ownership continues to tear the roster down," Owen wrote.
When looking at the Twins' current pitching rotation, there is no question that Ryan would give it a nice boost if acquired. The 29-year-old righty just put together an All-Star campaign for the Twins during this past season, as he had a 13-10 record, a 3.42 ERA, and 194 strikeouts. With numbers like these, there is no question that he would be a major pickup for a Braves team that needs pitching help.
Ryan has been in the rumor mill since the offseason, and he should generate a ton of interest around the league this season. Because of this, the Braves will have competition to try to land his services. It will be intriguing to see if they can acquire him from here.
