MLB Trade Rumors: Proposed Trade Brings Byron Buxton To Braves to Replace Profar
How will the Atlanta Braves deal with yet another suspension to outfielder Jurickson Profar? The DH/left fielder was shockingly found to test positive again for a performance-enhancing drug—for the second straight March—and has been suspended for the entire 2026 season.
How will they fill the void? We suggested three targets on the free agent market that could be considered to replace Profar, now we bring you a big, splashy trade option, proposed by Mark Powell from Fansided.
Atlanta Braves receive:
- Byron Buxton, OF
Minnesota Twins receive:
- Didier Fuentes, RHP (Braves' No. 3 prospect)
- Diego Tornes, OF (Braves' No. 8)
- Hayden Harris, LHP (No. 22)
Buxton is a high-risk, high-reward player, given his extensive injury history. He has cracked the 100-game mark just twice in the last eight years. The good news is, those were in 2024 (102 games) and 2025 (126 games). And it was last year that the 32-year-old had his best major league season, with career highs of 35 homers and 84 RBIs, along with 24 stolen bases. He posted an .878 OPS and won the Silver Slugger while nabbing his second All-Star selection.
Even if they could coax 120 games out of Buxton, the returns are potentially exciting.
Fuentes and Harris are projected to be ready for full-time jobs in the majors this year. Harris, an older prospect at 27 years old, got his feet wet with three appearances for the Braves last year, and Fuentes, just 20 years of age, did the same with 13 innings.
This would be a big, splashy move for the Braves; it's unknown if they want to go that route just yet.
