Breaking: New York Yankees Re-Sign Free Agent 7-Time All-Star

It was a tremendous marriage for the first half of last season, at least. Then in a platoon role the rest of the way And it's enough for the New York Yankees to decide to bring back seven-time All-Star Paul Goldschmidt.

It's a one-year deal for $4 million, and insider Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Goldy had opportunities to make more money elsewhere, but the fit in the Bronx was too good to pass up.

As the weak-side platoon partner for Ben Rice at first base, the 38-year-old Goldschmidt hit a robust .336 against lefties last season, with a .981 OPS. Seven of his 10 home runs came against southpaws.

More to come...
